JOSA Workshop | Introduction to Language Models

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore three ways to work with AI models: building from scratch, tapping into pre-trained models, and fine-tuning them for your own needs. Starting by covering the essentials of data collection, cleaning, model creation, and integration, giving you practical experience with realistic workflows.

You’ll also learn how to integrate AI into your projects using APIs and libraries, and get comfortable fine-tuning models with the Transformers library.

By the end of the workshop, participants are expected to:

Be able to use trained or pretrained models in code for a number of tasks
Fine-tune specific models to fit specific datasets
Understand examples in which AI is integrated into applications

Who Should Join?

This workshop targets IT university students and beginners, including those who want to better integrate AI in their code or start working with language models.

Generic Python knowledge (Beginner–Intermediate level)
